About FORTNUM & MASON NEW FOOD & DRINK AWARDS

The annual awards recognise excellence in writing, publishing and broadcasting on food and drink.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the awards were made in 10 categories and saw industry legends together with some of the finest emerging talent in the UK media win awards.

The Food Book of the Year was awarded to writer and journalist Caroline Conran whose account of Langeudoc cuisine is as variegated as the region’s architecture, landscape and climate.

Drink Book of the Year went to Wine Grapes, an indispensable book for every wine lover, from some of the world's greatest experts - Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding and José Vouillamoz - which profiles 1,368 wine varieties. Relative newcomers included online writers Daniel Young and Helen McGinn and wine writer, Matthew Walls for his book, Drink Me! But it wasn’t all down to our professional judging panel. You all voted in your thousands to crown the twin powers of baking, Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry the TV Personalities of the Year.
